Ready for the baby shower

Yesterday I mentioned that I would send a picture if I get all of the cookies decorated. They did not turn out as well as I hoped. The cookies are going to taste good but they won't be as pretty as I had hoped. I enjoy decorating cookies but I don't do it very often. I did it more when the kids were little.

I had to pick an alternative course schedule for the North Carolina Quilt Symposium. I guess that I should have submitted my paperwork sooner. I think I will be happy with my alternate courses. The North Carolina Quilt Symposium is a wonderful event. It is something that I try to go to every year. If you have an opportunity to go I highly recommend it.

My Little Helper

This morning I woke up late for my water aerobics class. I figured it is OK to sleep in once in awhile plus I had a lot of things that I wanted to get done today. The first on my list was to finish quilting a Linus Quilt that I have been working on for months. I like to make big Linus Quilts because my son received a Linus Quilt when he was 17 and he was over 6 feet tall and weighed 200 lbs. It is my way of paying it forward.

As you can see from this picture I have some help from my deaf cat Bunnie. She reminds me of Snoopy from the Peanuts comic strip when Snoopy pretends he is a buzzard. She cracks me up. Needless to say I finished the Linus quilt and I can turn it in on Saturday at guild.

I have also made three batches of cookies for my friend's daughter's baby shower. I wanted to make umbrella shapes, but I don't have an umbrella cookie cutter. I made the cookies into stars. Once I have them all decorated I will show you a picture.

Tonight I am teaching quilting 101 at the College of the Albemarle. I sure had fun putting the quilt in EQ6. I hope that the students and I have the same amount of fun putting it together.

I should get ready for my class.

Spring has Sprung!

These crocuses were blooming in my yard, robins have come back, and I went to the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Show! Spring is definitely around the corner.
I would love to share some of my pictures but I don't have permission from any of the quilt makers. To tell you the truth I enjoyed the show but not too many of the quilts made me say WOW!. They were all inspiring and wonderful to look at but very few of them took my breath away.
I have started teaching at COA (College of the Albemarle). I am happy that I am able to teach again. My class is very small but the students are great. I am teaching a class that is my own design. I have never done that before but I hope it all goes well. The students will learn accurate piecing, half square and quarter square triangles, Y seams and machine applique all in eight weeks. Hopefully I will be posting their progress on my blog.

Little Miss Muffet

Little Miss Muffet worked on her tuffet
cutting and sewing all day.
Along came a spider
and sat down beside her
and scared Miss Muffet away!

I traveled all the way to Chapel Hill, NC to take this tuffet class.
I love how it turned out. It was a great class!
I still have to stain the legs but it is as cute as it could be.

I haven't been blogging like I should.
I was busy with my tuffet.
Then I helped with Make a Blanket Day for Project Linus.
This week my quilting class starts at College of the Albemarle
plus the Mid-Atlantic Quilt show starts this week!

I know Spring is coming!
There were several robins in my back yard.
My daffodils are peaking up from the ground and I spotted some crocuses in my yard.
I am looking forward to some warmer days.

Sorry...I've been busy

I really apologize for not writing. I guess I feel I don't have anything interesting to say. Now if you want to hear whining and complaining, I can do that. I have been working on Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt very diligently. I have seen other bloggers finish. I am still on Part Four! I did skip ahead a little and have finished all of my Poitsetta Star blocks. I am currently making the Fox & Geese blocks. I need 52 and I think I have 26 finished.
I read in another blog that I follow (Quiltsalot) that she had appliqued a beautiful block and she decided to square it up and she ended cutting into one of her appliques. My heart sank for her. That night (since I was thinking of appliques) I decided to take a break from Bonnie's mystery and make a William Morris block.
I was happy how it turned out and then I noticed that was supposed to put the applique on point! I had to make another one. I grumbled a bit but it turned out fine.

BABY IT IS COLD OUTSIDE!!

I just looked at my blog and I noticed that I have not posted in a while. Shame on me.
My only excuse is that I have been busy with Christmas. Not with presents, shopping and baking, I have been diligently working on Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt. I am way behind. I am mostly behind because I do not have the great scrap storing method that Bonnie has. I am proud that I have a big plastic bin of neutral scraps an two big bins of colored scraps. If you would like to make Bonnie's mystery quilt please go to http://quiltville.com/carolinachristmas.shtml
Yesterday I was lucky enough to go with my friends to Wanchese, NC. There are a group of ladies called the Bag Ladies Quilting Group. They hosted a Quilter's Holiday Surprise. It was wonderful! They had a delicious cookie bar, great trunk show and door prizes (which I was lucky enough to win one)!! It was a great way to spend an afternoon at the beach! I am sorry that I did not take any pictures. I brought my camera but I never took it out of my purse.
I hope that I will post again soon. I hope that you all are enjoying this holiday season.

Time Flies...

It has been awhile since I posted last. I really don't have any quilting news. Last week I taught a Spinning Pinwheel class at A Different Touch up in Chesapeake. I love every one's color choices. They are all so different. I took some pictures of the cotton fields around here. I love it when the cotton is in bloom. They all look so soft and comfortable. I know they aren't but they sure do look like little pillows.
I also want to show you my porch. I love Halloween and I love to decorate. I really don't think I have a lot of decorations until I start to put them away. This weekend I am going to Hiddenite, NC. The guild there does a little Symposium every year in November. I have always wanted to go, so this year I am going. I am really looking forward to it. I promised you a picture of a quilt that my friends Jackie and Dee made for the hospital scholarship fund. Dee embroidered it and Jackie
quilted it. Dee is is in the picture. The other picture is one of my students who took my gingerbread house class at guild. I just love the quilt. It just makes you happy.
